Program & Workshop Opportunity

In April, the Thimble and Thread Quilt Guild of St Louis will be hosting Carol Moellers. Carol is a member of the Amazing Eight, a group of quilters from around the US who have made group quilts that have been juried into Houston and Paducah. Their quilt – The Amazing Aztec-nicolor Dream Quilt won First Place in Group Quilts at several shows and this quilt will be presented at the lecture (see info below). Don’t miss a chance to see this Amazing quilt!

On April 13, 2018, Carol Moellers–International Quilt Instructor & Designer will present a lecture and trunk show on “Group Quilts”, including two of her award winning group quilts that will entertain and inspire.  She will share her personal journey of making an award winning group quilt.  Also, she will share the strategies and guidelines a group needs to have in place for making a group contest quilt.  Her program is full of tips and valuable information. At the end of her presentation, you will be inspired to gather up a group of friends to create something beautiful together and ready to create memories that will last for a lifetime.

Carol’s lecture will include “The Amazing Aztec-nicolor Dream Quilt”. The Amazing Eight, including guild member Cindy Bell Neville, created this award winning quilt.

We meet at Concordia Lutheran Church, 505 South Kirkwood Road at 7:00 pm on the second Friday of each month.Note: There is a $5 fee for national speakers.

Charitable Opportunities

Quilts for Olympians: The abuse experienced by the USA Gymnasts prompted my interest in offering these young woman hope and support of healing in their spirit.  In contacting Michigan Attorney General office I have heard from an athlete who wanted a quilt.  The California law firm representing these woman, is reviewing this. They would distribute the quilts to maintain privacy for the young women and for us as guild members. Consider sewing a Small lap quilt or A Pillow Case (either is ok) with a heart somewhere on it.   This is a great way to use stash, sew that simple design, help these young woman heal a deep sorrow.

Size: a small lap or large crib  (approximately: 45×50 and ADD a Heart on front ( need not be large , Just symbolic )

Need Ideas on a simple design?  Can only make the quilt top but interested? Would donate backing? Glad to make a small lap?  Any kind of interest is ok.
